WordPress.com has given me the nerdiest premier post title ever — Hello World! — the successful output of which was the test of my skills in any new programming language. So I think it’s a fitting start!
ProudlyNerdy is, as I am keeping the title from its previous origins at Blogger, a replacement to the previous post. I’ll be importing all those old posts from Blogger so that they will not be lost in “the cloud.”
The Alaskan Daily News, Alaska’s largest newspaper, endorses Barack Obama for the next president of the United States.
The following statement refers to the economic meltdown, though it describes my reasons for voting for Obama (rather than a man with decades more experience who also happens to be so diametrically opposed to all of my opinions) better than I could have summized.
“[Obama] brings far more promise to the office. In a time of grave economic crisis, he displays thoughtful analysis, enlists wise counsel and operates with a cool, steady hand.”
About Palin’s inexperience and McCain’s old age the paper stated, “Gov. Palin’s nomination clearly alters the landscape for Alaskans as we survey this race for the presidency — but it does not overwhelm all other judgment. The election, after all is said and done, is not about Sarah Palin, and our sober view is that her running mate, Sen. John McCain, is the wrong choice for president at this critical time for our nation. … Like picking Sen. McCain for president, putting her one 72-year-old heartbeat from the leadership of the free world is just too risky at this time.”
Not having cable and finding only what I want to watch on the intratubes has led me to discover a lot of TV stations hosting their full episodes of shows on their websites (with advertising of course, some more than others)…
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have LOVED watching Tina Fey do those Sarah Palin impersonations on Saturday Night Live. Tina Fey has always been a funny gal, but this stuff with Palin has been so simultaneously hilariously and eerily accurate that at one time I couldn’t believe that Sarah Palin actually said that she didn’t know what the Vice President did every day… It had to be Tina Fey. (It actually was Palin who admitted she had no idea what the VP does. I bet McCain bursted a blood vessel when he heard that.)
Tina Fey went on Letterman talking about how she does Palin’s accent, which I just told is a farce — she never had that thick of an accent before six months ago. Maybe she’s just doing it to look cute in the face of Mr. Wilson–I mean John McCain.
“She digs in those R’s. I think she thinks there’s oil in those R’s.” LOL!
In case you missed last Saturday’s SNL, you can see clips of it here. Sadly, though, I think this may be the end of Tina Fey’s Palin impersonations on SNL as she has been soooo busy working on 30 Rock, which was dismissively mentioned by SNL’s producer and creator Lorne Michaels in last Saturday’s SNL. =)
Microsoft sent me a link to this in an email. I’m a PC! It looks like it’s their attempt to get back at Apple for laying all those negative ads against them…
It would be more effective, I think, if this guy’s sarcastic comment didn’t ring so true. He goes, “I’m a PC and I like to watch videos that work.” LOL Maybe it’s due to Microsoft’s new Silverlight they’re using there, or maybe it’s my internet connection. If it were the latter you’d think it would stream faster the 2nd or 3rd time, but that’s not the case…
